IJburg is surrounded and doted with water, that is the reason why we will start our tour by the floating houses area. We will pass by buildings characterized by their straight shape, modern and innovative architecture, all built on the architectural principles of the houses of the old city built in the 16th and 17th century.

Explore the modern area of “IJburg” at the East Amsterdam. Come to discover its floating houses and the buildings architecture each crazier as the others.

Program of the tour

IJburg is surrounded and doted with water, that is the reason why we will start our tour by the floating houses area. 

We will pass by buildings characterized by their straight shape, modern and innovative architecture, all built on the architectural principles of the houses of the old city built in the 16th and 17th century.

We will ride along the biggest fresh water lake in western Europe, the ‘IJsselmeer’, an artifical lake which has replaced the previous Southern Sea. Then we will end up by crossing the natural park of IJburg, built on a old dumping site and exemplary by its ecological richness.

Cette option est faite pour vous si vous souhaitez rejoindre à vélo le quartier moderne d’IJburg en partant d’Amsterdam.Nous louons les vélos à “Starbikes Rental” situé proche de la Gare centrale d’Amsterdam et partons en direction de la partie Est de la ville.

Nous traversons différents quartiers (anciens et modernes), nous roulons le long de grands canaux entourés d’espaces naturels pour finalement rejoindre le quartier moderne d’IJburg. Un quartier créé entièrement sur un lac en 2001.
Là-bas, nous découvrons le “Surprenant Ijburg”, ses maisons modernes avec leurs architectures atypiques, ses espaces naturels (parcs et plages) mais aussi ses surprenantes maisons flottantes. 

Ensuite nous repartons en direction d’Amsterdam par le côté Nord de la ville, en passant par des villages typiques de campagne et des nouveaux quartiers. Nous terminons notre tour par une petite virée en bateau sur le fleuve IJ.
